Why is counseling important?

We all have life experiences that mold and shape us along our journeys. It is important to invest the time in reflecting on these experiences, in order to continue to grow. Each step on the journey builds endurance that increases our strength and resilience. The lessons learned yesterday help us to be more successful today, and to build our capacity to make it through tomorrow.

While we may strive to live selfless lives and to put the needs of others before our own, this does not mean sacrificing own mental health or overall well-being in the process. An essential part of life is learning to find balance amidst all of life's challenges. It is impossible to process through all of the external stressors of life in a healthy way without first addressing internal stressors. The process of finding this balance is a journey, and fully engaging in counseling is a fruitful part of this journey. Let's take this journey together!

About PJC

Dr. Ntatu North, DMin, MS, IMFT

Owner/Independent Marriage and Family Therapist

Welcome to Purposed Journey Counseling LLC (PJC)! I have been working in the behavioral health field since 2008. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in the community mental health setting, as well as in substance abuse treatment. I have worked with clients with a variety of mental health diagnoses as well as co-occurring disorders. I also enjoy couples and family therapy.  I believe that all of our lives are a journey, and that even with all of the pitfalls and bumps within that journey, each and every step of that journey has a purpose!

At PJC, I offer individual, family, and couples counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults. I am a strengths-based therapist, and my theoretical orientation is one of which highlights the strengths of individuals, families, and couples in order to promote resilience and success. I am also a faith-based therapist, and am able to provide these services upon request. Our initial appointment/intake will include a diagnostic assessment, in which we will determine which diagnostic criteria have been met. At our second appointment, we will work together to create a treatment plan that is driven by you, and is tailored to your identified needs and goals.

I currently accept Ohio Caresouce and Buckeye Health Plan, and I also accept self pay clients. *More insurance plans come.*

**During COVID-19, I also offer telehealth services.**
